So for the past year now, I have refused to eat meat. Why? I feel that the slaughter of animals can be stopped. There are more humaine ways to put these animals to sleep, but most companies have resorted to killing them in manners that involves breaking limbs, scolding alive, and so on.
Chickens are usually kept in close quarters where they are barely able to move, let alone stretch their wings. Most have never seen the light of day. Most have never flew one day in their life. They're bones are sometimes broken, they're sometimes fattened up to the point where they are not able to walk, and most die this way. Other ways are caused by being burned/boiled alive.
What are your views on vegetarianism/the ways animals are treated? |

I'm sad when i see an animal suffer BUT i eat meat anyway, it's true i would like that animal i'm eating woudl die in a way it didn't suffer any or less.... |

Ha, i understand. many people state that they will continue their ways of eating animals. I am not the type of person to tell you that you shouldn't or you should. I mean, almost all of my family and my friends eat meat, and i have no problem with it. As long as they dont shove it in my face. lol.
but yes, if the companies start using far less cruel ways to have them pass on, then maybe it wouldn't be so harsh |

Hey, I am also a vegetarian for that exact reason. I understand where you are coming from. I have been a vegetarian for almost four years. I agree that chickens are treated very badly and suffer very painful deaths.
OMG my distant family made a very big deal about my desicion to become a vegetarian. They thought I was crazy to give up meat simply because of the cruel ways meat companies kill animals. But I know that it is a respectable decision and it takes a very compassionate person to come to that desicion. :-) |

great point! and that's gotta suck, having your family make a big deal about it. my family also did the same thing to me when i told them i was a vegetarian. but now they're perfectly fine with it. it's not effecting them in any way shape or form. it doesnt even cost them any extra. (just gotta get me my Soy milk. because thats all i ever drank so lol) |

mine is a different story..
How I gave up beef / pork ..
1) I noticed my wounds heal quicker, my fever goes away quicker when I didnt eat meat
2) I always imagine a piece of raw steak left on the table for days and how yucky it becomes !
How I gave up chicken..
1) I saw certain websites that shows newly born chicken being held on their feet by machines and if its a MALE chick, it goes directly to the meat grinder !
2) I also saw youtube of workers making fun and having fun abusing chickens !
What I eat now ? Well I hate hate almost all vegetables and fruits so heres the list that I eat nowadays..
1) baked sweet potatoe (I eat this 2 or 3x a day !)
2) TABACHNIK brand frozen soups (mushroom barley, lentil, etc)
3) IKEA´s Nordic Muesli (muesli with almond, dried banana/orange)
4) steel-cut oat with milk and honey
5) king oyster mushroom stir-fry with minimal grapeseed oil / oyster sauce
6) eggwhite omellete with diced baby portabella mushrooms and 4 kinds of shredded cheese
what about you guys ? please share what you eat so I can expand my possibilities cuz I might get bored of what I eat !

Mmm sounds great! i literally stick to vegetables and fruits for the most part. I mean yeah i take part in an occassional glass of soy milk(:
BUT FOR THE MOST PART
I go out and buy vegan/vegetarian foods such as MorningStar meals or Boca. They're less fat and calories, and literally, one serving size fills me up! and normally the servings are less than 150 calories!
but i don't eat eggs. If a recipe calls for eggs I use an egg alternative.
