*shrug* All about context, yo. Context is quite important in English, since sometimes one word will have multiple meanings. You have to be fully aware of what you're reading to pick up the exact meaning because of things like that.
(In the end, though, those words are used like that for the purpose of efficiency, because it allows the relationships between the words to become immediately apparent. One might have never seen the word before, but one can figure out its meaning almost right away based on other words one might know. For example, with "sewer" and "sewer" it is easy to see the relationship to "sew" and "sewage" because of the way they're spelled. The same word just happens to be a convenient solution for both meanings. And, for another example, there is a relationship between the meanings of "produce" and "produce.")
Might be a tad confusing to give one word several meanings, but I suppose one can excuse the gods of language for this one, since they have a good enough excuse. (Ha!) |

Me neither; I suppose we're just smart! ;D
But it's kinda weird, because I see people in my class who can barely even write in english.. They're at the level I was when I was like, 8, and now I'm 14. >.> |

Haha.
I had a little trouble at first; I was reading the whole thing slowly out loud!! I am NOT a stickler for things like this. And English is my first language. That's pretty sad. (But I guess Spanish got to my mind this past year.) |
