It's been raining like hell the past 3 days, like SERIOUSLY hectic rain non-stop. Now apparently my city is on the news in the states for flooding?? hahaha. kinda weird, cos the sun is shining today, and I see no signs of flooding, and I live here!!

True, the rain was hectic, but neither me nor anyone I know experienced any flooding... but apparently there's pictures of this so-called "disaster"... I can't seem to find any though.

But it's rather amusing that other parts of the world consider it such a big tragedy, whereas here I am sitting in the eye of the "storm" and everything is just peachy keen

you must have been affected by the flood not conscious of it using expressions like "peachy keen"

that phrase old when "groovy" was new

hahaha.
actually the flood was pretty bad. i saw some areas of the city have actually been devastated. i was just lucky.

one woman was driving with her daughter (3 or 4 years old) and the bridge collapsed. the woman survived. her daughter drowned. and to make it even worse, the woman was pregnant - and miscarried.

the flood didnt affect me or my friends at all, so i'm really lucky. but i didnt realise how terrible it actually was.

I know what you mean. When a huge ice storm hit this area in 2002, whole sections of the town were torn up and others completely left alone. The house next door to me had an enormous tree that was torn in half by the weight of the ice and on the other side...nearly every other tree was toppled or broken-yet my place was spared...
